Родился в Гриво (Курляндская губ.). Учился в Рисовальной школе при Обществе поощрения художеств в Петрограде (1918), во Вхутемасе-Вхутеине у К. Петрова-Водкина (1919-24), на курсах усовершенствования художников у Е. Лансере (1932-33). Участник выставок с 1925. Был членом объединений "Круг художников" (1926-29), "Октябрь" (с 1930). Произведения находятся в ГТГ, Москва; ГРМ и Государственном музее истории Санкт-Петербурга, С.-Петербург; Дальневосточном художественном музее, Хабаровск; Нижегородском Государственном художественном музее и др. собраниях.
