Alexander Nikolaievich Samokhvalov was born August 21, 1894 in the town of Bezhetsk, Tver Province, Russian Empire.
In 1923 Alexander Samokhvalov graduated from VkhuTeMas (since 1944 known as Ilya Repin Institute) in Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin workshop.
He studied of Vasily Beliaev, Gugo Zaleman, Vasily Shukhaev.
Since 1914 Alexander Samokhvalov has participated in Art Exhibitions.
He painted portraits, genre and historical pictures, worked in monumental and easel painting, black-and- white art, sculpture, decorative and applied art, in Art illustration of fiction and poetry.
His personal exhibitions were in Leningrad (1963), Saint Petersburg (1994), and Tver (1994).
