Alexander Vladimirovich Shmidt was born August 15, 1911 in Rechitsa, Belorussia, Russian Empire.
In 1933 Alexander Shmidt graduated from Repin Institute of Art in Leningrad.
He studied of Alexander Savinov, Vasily Savinsky, Arcady Rilov, Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin.
Since 1941 Alexander Shmidt has participated in Art Exhibitions.
He painted cityscapes, portraits, landscapes, still-lifes, genre paintings.
His personal exhibitions were in Leningrad in 1962, 1973, 1983, and 1989.
Alexander Shmidt was a member of the Leningrad Union of Artists since 1955.
In years 1947-1949, Alexander Shmidt taught in the Higher School of Art and Industry in Leningrad.
He was a founder and a head of Wiborgsky Palace of Culture Art Studio (1949-1971).
Alexander Vladimirovich Shmidt died in Leningrad in 1987.
